Why There Are Some Services We Don't Provide

There are some Dental Services that we don't provide and have not provided since 1986. You can learn what these are and why we don't provide them here, and recommend that you become informed before you make choices.

Dental Services not provided at our Centre include:

  • No Mercury Amalgams
  • No Root Canal Therapy
  • No Fluoride treatments.
  • No Titanium Dental Implants

Mercury Amalgams

Our dental centres do not use any "silver" mercury amalgam fillings and haven't since 1986.

There is incontrovertible evidence that… Dental amalgam “silver” fillings contain an average of 50% mercury.

Mercury escapes from dental amalgam fillings.  Mercury is a poison.
There is no level of mercury exposure below which health symptoms have NOT been reported.
In other words… There is no safe level of exposure.

You wouldn't take your child's temperature with a Leaky Thermometer .... because Mercury is a poison, nor would you put a poison in your child's mouth ?

So what is the logic of placing it in any person's mouth?

Fact: "Silver" or amalgam dental fillings contain from 48-55 % mercury, 33-35% silver, and various amounts of copper, tin, zinc and other metals. Since mercury is the major component of the material, any representation of the material should include the word "mercury". Thus at this practice, we refer to them as mercury dental fillings.

Fact:
Mercury is a powerful poison. Published research has shown that mercury, even in small amounts is more toxic than lead, cadmium and even arsenic.

Fact:
The mercury vapour released from mercury dental fillings is absorbed very rapidly and thoroughly in your body primarily by inhalation and swallowing.

The dental profession abuses workers due to ignorance. All employers in the US are required to protect their employees yet their education did not prepare them because no dental school is complying with worker protection laws either. In my opinion that is because the dental schools in the US are "accredited" by the trade association that defends the use of mercury the American Dental Association.

What students should be able to expect from an institution of higher learning is truthful information. Sadly much of the information shoveled out by dental schools is myth, theory and malarky. Students are often not well enough versed in the scientific method to recognize the very flawed logic that is offered up as proof. The only thing that has been proven beyond doubt is that dentists are breaking OSHA laws and damaging the health of their employees. The US Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requires that when it is reasonable to assume that exposure [to mercury vapor] is likely the employer shall:

1. Provide employee with informed consent (1987 Right to Know Act)

2. Provide training in protection and how to avoid exposure.

3. Provide protective equipment which for mercury includes: a. Airway protection (mask or respirator) b. Mercury-resistant gown covering all exposed skin e. Eye protection

4. Institute work practices to minimize mercury release

5. Engage engineering controls to minimize worker exposure to mercury

6. Monitor both the workplace and employee for mercury exposure

7. Record steps 1 through 6 in the Hazard Communication Workbook available for unannounced inspection at any time and retained for a minimum of 30 years after each incident of emission.
